Giving to LSBU

In 1892, it was generous support from thousands of individual donors that founded what is now London South Bank University

Today, financial support from our alumni and other friends continues to play an important role to the University and its future by helping to ensure our students receive the best possible education and support.

Organisations and individuals support LSBU for many reasons. Some give because they appreciate the social mobility we enable for our students; some give in gratitude of the experience the University gave them or in their desire to see others benefit.

Our Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO) stays in contact with over 80,000 LSBU alumni. Graduating students become members of our Alumni Association and they are contacted each year for any support with volunteering, mentoring, work placements and donations they are able to offer the university. Use the link at the top of any LSBU webpage to go to our Alumni Association website.

The University also seeks funding through grant applications, commercial sponsorship and non-alumni gifts. DARO raises funds for both specific capital projects and programmes which directly support students. During the last three years this has created over 50 postgraduate scholarships, as well as student advisor and widening participation programmes. Capital projects, part-funded through grants and philanthropic support of nearly £5m, include The Centre for Efficient and Renewable Energy in Buildings (CEREB), the Nathu Puri Institute for Engineering and Enterprise, sophisticated skills laboratories and the Borough Road Gallery. It is also possible to make a gift in your will.
